The 2024 Great Southern Sports Forum will be the first of many annual events specifically targeting regional/local industry professionals, athletes and volunteers of the sport and recreation and community sectors.

 

Get ready to dive into a day filled with thrilling discussions, interactive workshops, and networking opportunities.

The Great Southern Sports Forum will feature several streams which aim to discuss and address the current industry trends and issues facing sport and recreation communities across the Great Southern. The identified key focus themes of the Forum will be to ‘Inspire’ Innovate’ and ‘Connect’. Participants will hear from an amazing group of industry professionals, experts, community leaders and high-profile sporting personalities that will speak to these themes.

Network with like-minded individuals, exchange ideas, and expand your professional connections. Engage in lively debates and share your own experiences during the interactive sessions. This is the perfect opportunity to learn from others, collaborate, and stay ahead.

Mark Readings, MC

Mark Readings is one of the state's most respected journalists, presenters, and MC's, brings his wealth of experience to the inaugural Great Southern Sports Forum as the Master of Ceremonies.

During his 23-year tenure with Channel 9, Mark covered a diverse range of sports, including AFL and cricket. Notably, he provided commentary at the 2006 Commonwealth Games and the 2012 London Olympics, showcasing his versatility in sports coverage.

Joining the Seven Network in 2014, Mark served as the sports presenter for Today/Tonight and expanded his roles to include AFL commentary, Olympics, and Commonwealth Games coverage. His diverse contributions extended to hosting a weekly footy show and writing a column for The West Australian Newspaper.

Mark's active involvement in football includes hosting Channel 7's WAFL coverage, presenting the weekly footy show "The Game," and contributing as a commentator on radio station 6pr during the football season. Additionally, he hosts a daily breakfast segment on 6PR and has ventured into the podcast realm, co-hosting a twice-weekly AFL podcast with Eagles AFL Premiership player Will Schofield.
