and Board member of the Maritime Foundation and will talk about the history of Maritime Albany and about projects he is involved with like the restoration of one of Albany’s (and Australia’s) oldest fishing boats the “Wildflower”. Listed on the National Register of Historic Vessels. The boat was one of two identical boats brought to Albany from Victoria by the Mouchemore family in 1896. She sailed the waters of the Princess Royal and Oyster harbours, and King Georges Sound for over 100 years under 3 generations of ownership by the Mouchemore family. The Wildflower is widely believed to have been one of the longest continuously fished vessels in Australia. Many long-term Albany residents will recall the Wildflower as a familiar sight at rest on her mooring on Princess Royal Harbour opposite the Residency Museum (Where she was moored for over 100 years.
