About the event

Join scrimshaw artist, Gary Tonkin, for this talk on maritime sketches.

In the 1990s, scrimshaw artist Gary Tonkin was the former chairman and founding member of Albany's Maritime Heritage Association. His passion for art and scrimshaw is evident in his many works such as the detailed account of George Vancouver's HMAS Discovery in King George Sound and historic buildings of Albany depicted on the whale's tooth collar of the City of Albany mace. Join Gary as he discusses the events which led up to his artistic interpretation of significant events in Albany's maritime history.
