The Mist is a pop based band that has been performing at various venues around Albany for the last 4 years. Their sets comprise of multiple covers and original songs that they have written and learnt over the years.
If you’re wondering, “Why The Mist?” It’s because, as Matteo likes to say “You never know what is going to come out of the mist.” “Our music is never the same and it’s constantly changing”.
Big Men Working
Big Men Working have a major Australian rock influence playing everything from Daddy Cool, Cold Chisel, AC/DC through to Jet, Powderfinger, Eskimo Joe and John Butler.
2020 is Big Men Working’s jubilee year as the group has been performing in one form or another since 1995, the one constant being Singer/Guitarist Steve Dougherty.
Keyboard player Matt Quicke has been on board for most of the journey while drummer Aaron Crosby has done a couple of stints since 2007.
The band often features a sax player and Rob Bush will be doing the honours on New Year's.
Steve Dougherty works as a music teacher and believes that there is always a place for live music if you respect the industry.
"I’ve always thought it an honour to play for an audience and appreciate the people who have come to our gigs. I still get nervous before a gig, so while the butterflies are still there it’s always worth playing. Mick Jagger said in an interview recently that after trying literally everything the one thing that he enjoyed most was playing music to a live audience."
Myles Mitchell Folk Explosion!
Myles Mitchell Folk Explosion play their own distinctive blend of indie folk known to provoke dancing, merriment and revelry.
From Denmark WA, their music evokes the sounds of the South Coast, featuring Rosie Smith (mandolin, flute, vocals), Emil Davey (violin, vocals), Jack Harrison (bass, vocals), Mark Gretton (drums, vocals) and Myles Mitchell (guitar, vocals, storytelling).
Mitchell’s song-writing has been described by Aurora Magazine as “worldly, wise, relevant, sexy, surprising and downright fun”.
